Musikfest Nara 2016 is going on now and preventing the rainy season from dampening June!
This, the 5th installment of Musikfest runs from Saturday June 11th through Sunday 26th at various locations throughout Nara Park and Nara Prefecture. Music of every genre by artists far and near, great and developing are featured at each of the various stages. Headline events include a performance by the French National Orchestra from Lyon on June 25th, and the Nara Philharmonic Orchestra's rendition of Beethoven’s Ode to Joy Chorus on June 26th.
Main stages include the Ukigumo Enchi Lawn near Todaiji Temple, the Kasugano Iraka Forum Hall (also near Todaiji), The Nara Centennial Hall across the street from the west entrance of JR Nara Station, and the Nara Cultural Center near Kofukuji Temple. There is a near 50/50 split between free and paid events, ranging from world renowned orchestras to street side jamborees.
